Round and round

They say what goes round comes round and it seems no less so than in the bingo world where old theatres, once used as music halls or dance halls, the most popular form of entertainment in their day were changed to cinemas as people became enchanted with Hollywood stars and then with the advent of TV and numbers falling in the cinemas a lot of those buildings were transformed into TopBingo Deals halls only to see a downturn in their fortunes once more as the smoking ban spoiled the fun for many players and online bingo brought an alternative venue, your own home. Now some new halls are being built as a whole new generation of players seek a fun night out.
It seems however that online bingo is the choice for new players and confirmed hall payers are not making the change. That is unless the Online 2012 scheme is a success and conversion is the outcome. Dagenham Mecca Bingo has been used as part of the scheme to try and get Britain’s 9 million adults with no internet access to take an interest and learn some new skills. The scheme is being taken to people where they are and who knows what will happen.
The best thing about innovation is increased choice and e cigarettes are an example. E cigarettes or electronic cigarettes look and feel like the real thing with no threat of passive smoking. Designed as an aid to smoking cessation they deliver a vapour with or without nicotine and could provide a solution for some to the smoking ban in bingo halls if allowed.
It seems they just can’t keep the game of bingo down for long.
